For us Brits, having crooked teeth is an unfortunate stereotype and certainly not a sign of beauty. I was surprised to read recently about how women in Japan are paying to have either temporary or permanent caps to their teeth to make them look crooked. The trend for ‘yaeba’ or ‘double tooth’ (‘snaggletooth’ according to some sources!) sees fashion-conscious women seeking a more childlike look. This isn’t new, but it has recently picked up a lot of media attention as clinics are offering cheaper treatments and student discounts. So what next? Baldness becomes sexy? Chipped nail varnish becomes all the rage? Who knows?!
